You can't just leave something like the Convocation, Charlie. We are all of us up to our necks in illegality. One of us leaves, the others rat him out. It's mutual assured destruction. The only way out is death. But now! A conspiracy within the Convocation for one half of its members to get rid of the other half! A golden opportunity.

Gratas howled in pain, lost his balance, and fell off the jetty into the lagoon. Where the dolphins were waiting for him. What happened next was a game of dolphin identification. It was not particularly pleasant to watch.
