Ugh. He was 23 years old when he wrote this and it shows…

And NOW he doesn’t give a rat’s patootie that his dad’s dead, just that the money’s gone!!! I HATE THIS CHARACTER SOOOOO MUCH!!!

He didn’t do a DARN thing to keep what he had actually worked to get…and I bet he won’t own up to it. I so hate Amory it’s not even funny. If this wasn’t taking place at Princeton, I would have DNF’d it ages ago…I really should now…

His friends were in a horrible car crash, one dead and two others gravely injured, yet the next day is prom and his girl comes to visit and he forgets ALL about his friends and we don’t find out what happened to the other two friends or even WHO they ARE?!?

I literally hate each and every character in this book. They go to PRINCETON, are the sons of OBSCENELY wealthy people and EIGHT of them don’t have enough to properly pay for their food, they just walk out with paying like a quarter of their tab only?!?!

The Princeton Triangle Club, an acting group of Princeton U students, writing and performing their own musical plays, traveled to other cities in the US to perform. While F Scott Fitz didn’t act in the plays, he did write for them while he was at Princeton. Learning specific history is what I am enjoying here. Amory who I assume is Fitz’s alter ego, is a pretentious git and I take no pleasure reading about him.

I’m too practical for poetic pretentious youth…I wasn’t even into it when I was a youth…do these kids even ATTEND class???

He’s a right proper jerk, BUT he just discovered reading, so I’ll temper my dislike of him, for now.

Brentano’s, bookstore chain that was around since 1853, was bought by Waldenbooks and the Borders. Gone now. So sad.

Dude, that poor kid! And he doesn’t even get a NAME, just a descriptor??? And putting out the heat and hot water for everybody?? What idiots!!
