I logged now and this is the first thing I noticed, partly because it was flashing from the upper right corner. :)
It looks the same functionality that in the old Goodreads was in the first page.

it does , i just don't know how to react to it

Mah! It can be useful, you follow many discussions in several groups and its position is discreet enough in that corner. It looks to me a minor change, not like others made in previous releases.
