Are you going to read Emily Wilson’s translation of the Iliad as well? I’m about half through it and find it very readable but I could see that some may feel it lacks grandeur of the more poetic translations.

Hey Mark! I hope to read Emily Wislon's translation since I did not really like Caroline Alexander's version. I found it too complex (definitely not a good one for a first time read of the Iliad). Emily Wilson's translations great for newer readers of Homer (which I am), but I completely agree that it may lose some of the grandiosity and historical aspects of the original text! How do you like the book so far?
