Well, it took EIGHTY SIX % of this book, but something finally happened. I mean, sort of. Lucia is the tall glass of water Nyasha thought she was to this book, but actually can’t compare. And now we’re supposed to be proud of Maiguru for standing up for herself to take a vacation. Aiy

Pleasantly pedantic halfway in. On the one hand, girl isn’t having unnecessarily hostile crosscultural drama with her modern cousin (Donkor’s Housegirl) or cliché evil stepmother. That said… a little foreboding would be nice. Like ghost of her dead brother or something. Is this just a bold protagonist to whom nothing bad ever happens?
