I think I understand the prophets and the poetry therein better than I ever have. I’m not sure which percentage of this should be attributed to having now read through them in Hebrew versus having simply read through them slowly and in detail. Either way, there is much hope provided in the prophets as Christian Scripture.

On to the Writings.

I begin Isaiah tomorrow.

Some broad insights since the last update:
-The Book of Samuel is a literary masterpiece (I may make my dissertation topic something in this book)
-Deuteronomy is essential to the author of the Book of Kings
-Although the monarchy fails and the people go into exile, a Davidic hope still stands
-As I enter poetry, I am slowing down my reading to one chapter a day

For anyone discouraged by the difficulty of reading Scripture in Greek and Hebrew, it’s worth it!
The more I read, the more I am encouraged by the easier it gets and the more enjoyable it is. Press on!
