This is excellent so far, the way the dread built up once they found the cage! And I feel like he is building to something with the priest, like all the hints at a dark past, I feel like he and the vampire must have crossed paths before without him realizing it.

Constant carnage and gore and I am here for it. Usually I get annoyed by vampires that can daywalk because then they are basically just fae or superheroes, but in this case I feel like the author added additional lore that counterbalances that to be sure to make vampirism super tragic. I love a tragic vampire.
