I'd give this 5 stars were it not for the problems caused by an older white man trying to write the perspective of a 20 year old woman. The unspoken assumption under the way she fights the attempted rape is especially problematic. Yes, Lyra would fight. But there's an unspoken misunderstanding & lack of respect for how or why other women may not. Also, somehow lovely Malcolm is now a creeper? Just, no.
