This is wonderful. It offers a history of medicine (the Tale of Two Presidents chapter is riveting and shocking), of New York, and of this specific hospital. Bonus points: I am in the midst of reading about the former Blackwell's Island (now Roosevelt Island) while sitting on said Island in a building which stands on the footprint of one of the hospital buildings (Goldwater) being discussed!

This is fascinating! I have been intending to read this for years, and I am so glad I finally got on that. The history of medical care in America truly tells of so much more.

This is absolutely fascinating, and a trivia lover's dream. And I just learned that the hospital in which I had my son (Pennsylvania Hospital in Philly) was the first proper hospital in America!
