The main character, David, is driving through the forest during a rainstorm when his car suddenly hydroplanes. "The Accord swerved out of David's control. The road bent sharply to the left without warning." On page 9. I think David is a very anxious person who doesn't work well under pressure and will be put in a very uncomfortable situation.

David becomes more anxious about driving through the forest, his passenger, Emma, also getting more anxious. They get pulled over by a cop and are told that a body was discovered on the road they were driving on. "'A body was found earlier this evening.' He spoke the words in a semi-whisper" Pg 149. I think that they are going to discover something more horrifying as they keep driving through the rainforest.
