I love bringing parts of different cultures to my stories. Sometimes I even mix them up on purpose. I have always been interested in linguistics and ethnography, not to mention anthropology and many other culture-related sciences so I sprinkle this nerdy interest of mine throughout my stories. In this prequel I tried to stick to a Nordic culture and language. I hope I did a good job.

"No, kareste, I'm not col." The reason for her goose bumps had nothing to do with the weather and everything to do with the man driving the sleigh.

"I may be small and hurt, but I have strong teeth and sharp nails, and I won’t hesitate to use them." - quote from Edel speaking to Aren.

“Who do you think you are to say something like that?” she asked, eyes burning with anger. “It’s true I have a sharp tongue, but if I were you, I would sleep with one eye open, just in case my bite is worse than my bark.”

I love Edel :)

First line: “Hurry, child.” Her whisper sounded like a scream, a desperate plea for speed at a time when slowing down meant death.
