Why do authors act like adult versions are infantile? They're adults. They know what's what. They just haven't chosen to have sex with a rando before. It doesn't mean they need special help to talk about limits or contraception or whatever. You should be addressing those things with ANY partner, not just a virgin. Same thing with being careful and gentle. That should be for anyone, not just virgins.
