Despite my glacial progress, I've reached the end of the text of the Inferno. There is still a lengthy afterword (not Dante's) which I will hopefully read before too much longer.
My eventual review will be short and will say this was an ill-advised undertaking: attempting to read the Italian with such an inadequate grasp of the language. I would have been entirely lost without the accompanying English translation.
