Oh humbug Brad:

"If I were to cancel the demolition then it wouldn’t have been because of Hope’s guided tour of the block, which was all very interesting but why should these people’s lives concern me? They can pick up again and go elsewhere, life doesn’t always go how you want it to. No one knows that better than me. I was considering cancelling the demolition, but only because I was developing feelings for Hope.."

Now here comes the miscommunication big time on optimist Hope's part--- bigtime!

CHAPTER 11

Brad:

"There is something perfect about Hope, and she is everything I look for in a woman. She’s exactly my type. On the other hand, she is everything I used to look for in a woman. I haven’t looked for a woman for years. I’ve looked at women, but when I’ve seen good-looking women, even ones like Hope, then I’ve hated them for their very existence. I’ve hated them for reminding me of what I lost."

Chapter 9

She rolls her eyes. “You know, your face is pretty well known around this block. I wasn’t kidding about my Mom—she may not actually kill you, but it won’t be for a lack of trying.”

“Would you prefer me to tell her that it’s the man who had her arrested, fired me and is knocking down our home in a matter of days?” hisses Hope. “You’ll end up with a walking stick shoved up where you will like it least.”
