Abandoning. Have you seen those TikTok videos of some jerk wrapping brussel sprouts in gold paper so they look like Ferro Roche chocolates and passing them out on Halloween? That's what reading this book was like. I'm a big Backman fan and have read and enjoyed all his books, but this one felt almost like poverty porn. Absolutely nothing happens and I could not connect with any of the characters.
