So far, this memoir has been an insane read. I empathize deeply with the author’s plight of discontent and lack of purpose due to their abusive family and clinical depression, but I emphatically do NOT empathize with sadness and confusion at losing her loving partner after she willingly, knowingly chooses to cheat on him.

And then for some reason, the author sought comfort, guidance, and purpose in her time of need from a late 19th century fish taxonomist who, I may add, was a staunch eugenicist who most definitely murdered the spiritualist quack founding mother of Stanford via poison in an attempt to keep his job and covered it up.
