i loved rebecca's infodumping on translation in Babel as i found it genuinely so interesting but in Katabasis i could not care less about Logic. i feel like im understanding the frustrations of the unimpressed readers of Babel here. the two MCs and their contant theory-referencing without elaboration (or very bland textbook explanations) make them feel so alien to me. like i get it ur smart but do people actually talk like that? maybe the academic world is just that foreign to me (literally a uni student but whatever).

it's also quite uncanny as im from the city where this is set so its showing my hometown in a whole new light - before reading i thought this factor would improve my enjoyment of the book but its actually making me feel very disconnected and lowkey envious of the students who can come here and reap the rewards while myself and my community deal with the sh*t behind the scenes.

anyway im being dramatic, hope u enjoy when u get round to it!!!
