This book is an interesting way to learn about a particular segment of US history. And Douglas Brinkley is so good and making everything sound fascinating. I didn't realize farming was such grueling lonely labor before the automobile. Also, the assembly line did make work tiresome. But it also made stuff affordable. And Ford did back it up with a $5 day wage (double the old wage), which really boosted morale.
