end of book 3. Nicholas Rostov biggest simp ever over the emperor. Boris tries to improve rank. Attempt at peace unsuccessful. Kutuzov argues against attack, emp attacks. French closer than thought. ch 3-6. Mary and Anatole are introduced to each other. Mary thinks she’s unloveable due to her plain face. She soon catches Anatole & Mademoiselle Bourienne embracing. Mary says she will do all she can for MBs happiness. Letter from Nicholas tells Rostovs he’s been wounded & promoted to officer.
