technically a dnf

i’m so over forcing myself to read shit books

so i chapter page skim read up tk chapter fifteen
then skipped five chapters at a time until chapter thirty
just in time to read a bit about holly managing to prevent what’s her face fmc from book one from eating poisoned cupcake like the other human women about to die

meh

also a miscarriage
almost
poison killed the chance of egg fertilizing

whatever

i’m already tired of this repetitive recapping book
clearly this series won’t do justice to the rest of the human women’s stories

also
the cover photos are so shit

this entire time i thought in book one
the mmc was closer in appearance to a giant alien gargoyle vampire with red eyes

not this ugly ass cover photo with purple pink skinned obviously HUMAN MAN

shit writing shit story all of it

i enjoyed the few actions scenes in book one
for whatever reasons

but the rest was admittedly trash writing

a lot of telling and not showing
and what was told was poorly written, and monotone almost
ironic
for the main alien species in this book to have a culture that puts such emphasis on story telling

i’m already moving on to chapter page skim reading to the end

prob even going to put this on my utter shit shelf
with the express note that it’s def due to the poor writing skill of this author that book one def also influenced and added to my perception book two
and the rest of the series

barely got passed skim reading paragraph one of chapter one page one

ughhh

i don’t even care for this fmc holly
she was boring af in book one

besides the general mentions of her doing yoga every morning and wanting to go home to earth more than the other human women

part of what i didnt rant about book one was how shit it was written most of the time
how long winded and pretentious

eughhhhhh

so now i’ll be skim reading book two
only bc i already have it

i likely won’t read the rest of the series

i already have low expectations
if any
thanks to book ones shit performance the majority of the time

and i’d almost rather leave it at that
those three or four scenes being what i remember of this experience

rather than potentially spoiling it by reading more by this author

i guess i even got book two in my digital library waiting to be read roi

but ive since removed the series set book from my want to reads list

…

the blurbs for the rest of the series were fucking boring or tediously annoying
i don’t have any interest in their stories

and seems as if this author made hattie and tuvo’s story be the last book just to tease readers

but that blurb too was 🥱

so i just finished rereading(eventually skimming and outright skipping) book one

less than a handful of scenes that i actually enjoyed

i can’t even
so much to rant too

and i apparently added book two to my want to read list
and the entire series set

a while ago

and yet i never got to it

after reading the blurbs for the rest of the series
i know why now
