I've never read a Jilly Cooper, but I have to say, when I was doing my masters, I ran the library of our halls, which was only open once a week in the evening. It was converted from a little broom cupboard in the downstairs communal area, and most people really just came for DVDs (how quaint now!). Anyway, I will always associate Jilly Cooper's Riders with it, because every Monday evening, there I was in that cupboard, having to stare at that bum on the cover. And no, I didn't pick it up and read it myself, because I was either trying to scramble a reading assignment or was too busy chatting to passersby who brought me a pint from the bar. It's a fond memory, but a very goofy association.
