Okay. I take it back. I was in a psychotic frame of mind the first time I opened this book. (I meant what I said about the serpents tho). But I’ve missed Robin Hobb. I guess it picks up in a good place. Kennit deserves every ounce of pain he gets, but I’m torn between wanting him to live and die. Bro he messes up EVERYTHING!!! Somehow, someway this book is absorbing me. Maybe I was just really tired of the sort of mindlessness of Shannon Messenger and really missed Robin Hobb. Maybe book two just picks up and flows better than book one. But I am enjoying it more than I thought I would. Next up: Captain Kennits leg cutting JAJJAHBAHAHAJJAHAHAA (what he deserves). Naw I’m kidding 😭 (NAW I’M NOT JAJAJAJAJAJAJJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAAA)

Just started but my lord. I skipped right over those god damned serpents. I truly cannot stand them, and at the expense of not understanding some things that happen in the book, I’m just zooming right over them. Not in a great place mentally right now. But the Amber and Paragon chapter absorbed me a bit at least. I’m kind of really dreading reading this book actually. So maybe that means I shouldn’t. Sigh.

Vivacia… tired of her too, but it’s not like I’m rooting for her downfall. Kyle needs an A class whipping, and Althea I haven’t caught up to (sigh boo hiss). ALSO: JAHNI KAMPRUS (or whatever her name is) just CASUALLY walking around in an ELDERLING PALACE??! it has to be that place Fitz went to in Assassin’s Quest. One thing I’m definitely excited for and never had a problem with in the last book was the world building. Robin Hobb’s cultures and places are all sooooo intensely absorbing, I just love them sooo much! I don’t love the Rainwild Traders but—- hey. Maybe that’s about to change. 🧐 anyway. Enjoying. And the light literally just went out on me. My tub lamp. Sigh. Boo. Hiss. I get out.
