Artyom currently coming to the conclusion that all of the philosophies he has encountered in his travels through the Metro are merely old and new ways that man wrestles with his loneliness in the universe. As he travels through what he has only understood as legend before now he understands that people ask themselves impossible questions to give themselves weak purpose and nothing greater.

The introduction the Polis is well done and feels like a very definitive end to the act. Our main character finally has some time to rest and actually rebuild his strength while exploring a setting so alien to him. He is immediately thrusted to the surface as a last ditch avenue to save his station and this ends up feeling even deadlier after some respite.

having Artyom reject the foundations of catholic faith only to stumble into his own revelation and then a more experienced scholar of his own faith was a fun piece of irony to play out next to each other.
