I admit I have been struggling but I am too stubborn to give up now.

PS: I admit I know next to nothing about the 100 Years Wars.

Nice to see a bit more of Queen Isabella and Charle.

Plus Dow finally has some emotions that I can understand.

Arguably it's interesting to see kings trying to curry favours from God, angels and demons.

Mihai Zodian Well, there isn`t that much to know. Mostly, that it lasted for more than 100 years and that it wasn`t a war, it wasn`t a continous, intense conflict. The French and English dynasties were closely related (the English kings and nobles being Normans or close). The countries of France and England didn`t yet existed, there were more like monarchical domains, which intermingled.

The English rulers won the major land battle, humiliated the French cavalry three times. The French forces hid in the castles. The French lower classes supported the local dynasty, but there were many intersections and ambiguities. In the end, a reformed army of the French Kings with cannons recovered most of the losses.

And from this, the current political distinctions developed (or received an impulse). The French Kingdom became a more centralized political system. The English/Norman nobles started to play Game of Thrones at home. This opened a way for other social groups to press their demands. Shakespeare found some of its best subjects here. Gunpowder became famous in Europe. In the fictionalized world of Braveheart, Edward III is supposed to be Mel Gibson real son :D

Bottom line: the English rulers won most of the major battles, and lost the war, but the loss was good for the future.

Mihai Zodian You`re welcome :) I co-wrote a course on strategic studies with a historical bent.
