ok, it's picking up in the 3rd act... I really like Gideon and Harrow too, so I am still keen to keep reading it (though I was wondering if this was going to be a DNF for a bit there)

I'm ??? What is happening? The swapping from first to last name in different sentences is also throwing me, especially since we've been introduced to so many characters in the first 100 pages lol

Do I have any idea of what's happening right now? No. Am I enjoying it so far? Yes.
