The way Grady depicted Mrs. Greens’ neighborhood as “the hood” in this chapter is very distasteful. Oh these defenseless white women just drove into “the hood” with its potholes and raggedy yards and slumped powerlines and were ambushed by a gang of n-words and were scared for their lives. This was veryyyy ignorant. Makes me think this is how Grady views African Americans and where we all must come from.
