I was in the shop grinning reading the dinner party chapter. It’s a shame it wasn’t in the movie. I can see why it isn’t but with a movie as well cast as Dune a scene like this would’ve been so fun to watch.

I didn’t particularly for Jessica and the duke in the first movie because it really focuses on Paul much more than the start of this book does. And for the movies I think that’s a good choice but here the duke and Jessica really shine in a way that makes the betrayal hit so much harder.

The dinner scene is indeed peak, but I think it really only works in a book. Idk how you'd have everyone's inner monologues playing against each other's like that without some shitty voiceover or something.
