Based on a topical course Kagan taught at Yale. It doesn't require you to be an advanced philosophy student. It works best, though, with readings that use the arguments he evaluates or with Derek Parfit's "On What Matters." Kagan asks lots of questions to get you thinking and offers provisional answers. I like that approach. If you want to be indoctrinated with retorts to moral skepticism, this book isn't for you.

Clear enough, though it helps to have taken at least one other Ethics class. The problem is the bush. He keeps beating around it! This book started as lecture notes for a class the author taught at Yale, and he never got around to boiling it down.
