I know Bill Zehme was a great writer and I enjoyed his Sinatra book, but this one is difficult to get through. It’s just so over the top, like an Esquire magazine piece in steroids. The story, as it were, just isn’t very straightforward or follow any logical order and the language? Man, it is just so overwrought and over the top. I imagine some people enjoy this writing style - not me.
