The modest Rose puts forth a thorn, The humble sheep a threat ning horn:
While the Lilly white shall in love delight, Nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright.

In secret we met In silence I grieve,
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive.
If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee? —
With silence and tears.

I wandered lonely as a Cloud
That floats on high der Vales and Hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden Matiodils;
Beside the Lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

I’m struck by the metaphor of the man recognizing the albatross as a good omen but shooting it anyways
