Coming back to this one as prep for my comprehensive exams. It's not enjoyable at all, but I am learning some things. Had to breakout the vocabulary.com app though. Apparently, critics felt that Uncle Tom's Cabin was recondite and lascivious sedition, marked by dissolute diatribes that formed Stowe's insidious attacks on femininity and domesticity. Hmm. Didn't know that.
