I am really quite unsure what it is that I'm reading. This throws so many red flags on the abusive spectrum, I can't even begin to enumerate them. Yet at one point she actually says he was "so kind"...Ummmmm... Where? Then, the blatant debasing of the FMC is astonishing and the complete flight away from the quirky, smart scientifically-minded girl she was in book 1 is just wild. Perhaps the last 30% could save it...
