The stream of thoughts that Peter’s chapters offer, read like a fever dream. His alcohol and Xanax consumption, along with his grief and depression make this literally choice quite effective. In contrast, Ivan’s perspective offers more pace and deeper thoughts. The contrast is welcome and presents a lot of flexibility when comparing the characters.
