Just being honest, this is really bringing me down for some reason 🤣 I dunno, I appreciate this book as the apparent mother of the genre and it is not BAD, but I do not think it is that good when viewed through a post-CYOA etc. lens - fair or not

This 1930 book is believed to be the first ever gamebook (a more recent and better known example of gamebooks is Choose Your Own Adventure). This book was recently reprinted by a British publisher and I found it in my local bookstore. In this story, rather than making choices for yourself, you choose for "Helen". I chose wisely on my first go.
