Wow! I went into this knowing the "trick", but it works better knowing, being able to admire these plain, "American"-styled sentences narrated by Meursault, with the contrast of the ending of part one being so tight and yet so beautiful. I read Camus for Sisyphus, yet he is much better of a prose writer than I had ever anticipated.
