It's taken me a while to get to the halfway point due to the fact I don't find myself in the mood to torture myself, hence my reading has been sparse. From the first this sets a grim tone, both mc's struggling with the unfairness of life and the way tension is ratcheted up is anxiety inducing. Reading this, right now, is not the escapism I look for in reading but rather it's amplifying emotions i want to escape.
