Hi Ryan, no it is not. I thought that I would be reading a book on the lives of the slaves who lived at Madison's Montpelier. This is a book about how the author is descended from a slave who apparently had a sexual relationship with James Madison. I like learning about her family and how they hold onto memories about their ancestors, but the book is (so far) mostly that.
