It’s so painfully obvious that the grandma knows they’re divorced even before she came. There’s no way she didn’t find out from any of her old neighbours, since it’s a supposedly small, tight-knit community. And speaking of, even if she didn’t know before she would’ve found out as soon as she returned cause it’s not like everyone is in on their charade.

"In the letter, you said you’d come for me. You never did. Why?"

So why? They've made up and yet he still didn't explain why. That was the most important and pivotal thing he should've said and yet he never did. How am I supposed to believe in the success of their relationship this time around and in their HEA if I'm not convinced of Conrad really changing for the better and treating Whit right this time around?

It was obvious that at some point Conrad was going to contribute to the loan payments to lessen Whit's burden. Also easy to guess that Whit will take issue with this and I'm guessing they're about to have a fight. What I don't understand is why Whit took the loan documents with him and kept them at Conrad's house. Why didn't he file them in his own house? Stuff like this makes what's coming next painfully obvious.

“But I gave Conrad my word, and I can’t go back on that. It’s not who I am.”

It’s cute when MCs think that (not!). It’s absolutely who he is, or did he forget that he cheated?

Okay so he didn't immediately break up with Reggie? Damn it why aren't the MCs in the romance novels I'm reading at least decent people. Instead of improving after the WH epigraph, it's gone downhill. I'll keep reading for now because I really was intrigued by the second chance divorced couple aspect but this better start looking up real soon.

So first thing after the dedication is a Wuthering Heights epigraph. Wuthering Heights is not a romance. While the quote sounds nice in isolation, context matters. I really hope the author isn't one of the people who sees WH as a romance cause if that's the case, I shudder to think what this actual romance book will be like. Here’s hoping it's better going forwards. It's just an epigraph after all.
