Out of all the things to get upset about, the word "mate" is the least of them, girl. Y'alls 180 about each other is giving me freaking whiplash

I don't know what's happening anymore. I thought she was a new ruler of her kingdom and had lost it because of the war, but no. Her parents, the rulers, are alive (as far as she knows) and still control the kingdom. She's supposedly a badass who never runs from a challenge but started crying and begged the enemy king, her captor, to keep Rook away from her cause he's going to killer her

Well, this "enemies to lovers" is going swell, I guess. Could just market it as instalust but that's alright....

There's definitely been a lot of "fuck" variation thrown around and the writing comes off very immature and lacking forethought. Elara knows she's a prisoner but makes the questionable choice to befriend and trust her assigned lady's maid. Granted, it's not like she's just been spilling secrets (yet) but like, just asking unguarded questions seems incredibly silly.

I don't have high expectations for this because of the person who recommended it to me (her and I have very different opinions of what's good) buuuuuuut so far we have a possibly badass FMC who lost a war, her kingdom and her bonded mate all at the same time.
