I don’t get the logic. You want to destroy a female fortune teller…whose background you don’t know and/or why she does what she does to earn a living…for telling your dead wife that you didn’t love & who you know passed off a bastard as your heir…to flee from you & go to Italy…where someone else murdered her. 🤔 And this restores your “family honor” how, exactly?

He also spent a few (admittedly) awful years as a prisoner of some sadistic warlord in Algiers, which ok, I understand his PTSD—but he’s also somehow blaming that on her? And I don’t understand why. You’d need a flow chart to map this guy’s reasoning. Like, shouldn’t you blame THE WIFE for being dumb enough to run away & get murdered? Or the murderer for killing her? Or the Home Office for sending you to Algiers in the first place?
It's a lazy tool. By making everything the heroine's fault, it can end in HEA when she 'heals him with luuuuuv'
What’s extra great is that the h isn’t even the fortune teller who told the dead wife to flee! He doesn’t know that, but of course she’s ‘disguised’ herself as the fortune teller (who was her aunt, & who was also murdered 🙄) to somehow uncover the perp of *that* crime. So he’s doubly wasting all his hate & nebulous revenge plans, which amount to “I’ll shame this woman in society & she’ll never be accepted anywhere again, muahahaaaa.” Bro. Wtf.
