Heh, the early educators of the US were extremely earnest about education having nothing to do with knowledge, but with obedience. The breakdown of childlike spontaneity, curiosity, and independence, for a love of the nation grounded in prejudice and subordination. These are the literal words they used. It's crazy—they were so honest.
