It’s fine, but at this point I’m only pushing through since I’m so close to finishing. Hopefully the next book is better, but if it’s the same as the first I will probably wind up DNFing it. It’s not a bad book, it’s just not holding my interest and it seems like Ruocchio has several different direction ideas and they’re all over the place. I also hate the switches from present to reflective POVs.

I like it more and more. It’s still not my favorite or anything, but I enjoy it enough already to likely read more of the series unless anything wildy dumb happens I guess.

So far I like it. Hadrian reminds me of a mix of Damen from TOG and Cassius from Red Rising series. The setting seems very Red Rising inspired, solar system is populated and lots of use of Roman/Greek philosophy and structure. I like the world-building and explanation of conflict. I’m also a fan of the POV and how it’s all told retrospectively like in a journal or flashback.
