Just finished Ch.1. How badly can I guess the rest:
Girl gets chance to fight in arena instead of go to war (poss. she's mistaken as having superpowers?)
Her mom & sister cry. Her male best friend is upset (feelings for her???) She goes.
Misadventures--I mean training sessions--happen. She meets a handsome, mysterious boy. Likes him?
Suddenly MBF is there. Love triangle ensues.
She kills king.
Ciffhanger.

1) Not to be callous, but wouldn't the death of a worker create a job? Not eliminate two? Especially a fisherman's job, as they are already short on food? Okay, he didn't get to finish his apprenticeship but.......it's fishing.
2) historically, when a war is going on, young men generally want to go. It's not making me root for this guy that he CRIED with sadness at the prospect.
