Sheesh! I finally got through the “Waterloo” - Talk about nebulous. Tough stuff (for me!) So, I start back on the great main story and what does Victor write?! “Jean Valjean had been retaken. Excuse us for passing rapidly over the painful details.” You have to be kidding, right?! I just slogged through “Waterloo” for weeks and now you just sluff over a very important part?! Argghh Oh, well, upward and onward.

Wowza- an unabridged translation by Lee Fahnestock and Norman MacAfee, based on the classic C. E. Wilbour translation- it just doesn’t get any better than this. Exquisite writing.
