[Hypocrisy of deterrence. To rationalize
the need for weapons. On the basis:
it discourages other nations.
They say. Weapons are created. To
deter their own use. To make null their own
necessity.]
[Monster yourself.
Exert evil to dissuade evil in others.]
[Preventative measures. As motive to conquer.]
[As initiation of conflict.]
[As manifestation of war.]

What is the word
for how to conjure
the sigh of a line, hushed
beneath the flap of a thousand
shifting plumes.
What is the body of a
garden where a crescent
despairs, drifts beneath
the melt of amber.

We have several Hmong communities here in Wisconsin. I know a few Hmong families myself. The tales their elders tell - if you can gain their trust enough that they will tell you about their experiences - are harrowing.

This country has done so much evil to so many people - learning this horror story via Mai Der Vang's poetry is next level.
