I just want to say that I wish I was reading this as a child and I was naive and didn't understand some things... Because then I wouldn't realize how some of the grown-ups were stealing from or making jokes about a 7- or 8-year-old kid...

This book is so depressing, and I suppose so reminiscent of the terrors of my own life, that it makes me want to kill myself because that is all I would be doing if I was in David's position.
However it is only chapter 5 so I am hoping that things get a little better.
There is so much crying that I feel like crying myself.
