As of today, I have a house in the US.
Fourth try luck. First a Civil War house w/ghost included, we got outbid. Then a fairy tale cottage, we got outbid. Then a lil' ranch, we got outbid. This? A cute townhouse in a big city suburb where I can learn to bake, become the town's selectwoman, trade books & pies w/my American friends so y'all can experience food poisoning at my hands.
My Lorelai Gilmore life begins. :D

I'm happy and thankful and full of plans. 🤩
Sarah wrote: "Yay, that’s awesome!!!! Congrats to you and Cub!!! 🥳🎉"Thank you, doll! The Cub just called earlier to drop the news on me and I needed to celebrate. 🥳
You wanna be on my list of books & baked stuff trades? 😄
Sarah wrote: "(How often would I need to be worried about poison?) 😆"Rarely! And you'll develop immunity & resistance from exposure. 😆
help, she's gonna take all my ramshackle decorations and mixmatched furniture and replace them with things like aesthetics and design
Beka wrote: "Congratulations, mdear!!! 🎉💖"Hehehe, I was going to drop you a line when I saw your comment. 😆
You're further to the North, but no way you're not going on my list! 🤩
Automemory Cub wrote: "help, she's gonna take all my ramshackle decorations and mixmatched furniture and replace them with things like aesthetics and design"I was wondering when you'd come in defence of your . . . hoard. 😆
Well past time you lived like a proper civilised Cub, so your single bearling stuff will have to go. 😆
mwana wrote: "Congratulations 🥳🥳🥳"Thank you, my darling Mwana. I'm happy, it's been a long road and very hard at times. 💖
I know you're not in America, but you on my list? 😆
Karen wrote: "Congratulations!"Thank you, sweet friend! And sorry again for failing with the recced book, I'll do better next time. 😆
Left Coast Justin wrote: "Welcome! And I'm not sure what a 'selectwoman' is, but I'm sure you're perfect for the job."Hahaha! My dear Justin, your lack of Right Coast pop culture is alarming. 😆 A selectman/selectwoman is a kind of mayor in small New England towns, as per the documentary Gilmore Girls. 😆
Thank you for the welcome, my friend. 💖 Happy to have met you here, I'm not going to be so alone on another continent after all.
Scott wrote: "Welcome, welcome, welcome! Congrats! 🙂"Thank you, thank you, thank you, Scottie-san! 💖
On to my list you go, yeah? 😆

Thank you, doll! 💗
Ah! You're in the US? Hahaha, I don't know why but I've always imagined you in France. My brain just decided "Leilin = France" and didn't budge afterwards. 😂
Will happily trade fermented goods for baked goods!
Congratulations, Marquise!!! My favorite read on the dangers of trading pies with one's neighbors is "The Quiche of Death" by M.C. Beaton (set in British countryside).:)
Congratulations! Speaking on behalf of suburban American women, welcome! My book club keeps me connected so I don’t turn into a reading hermit. I recommend it.
😂😂😂 Congrats!!! I hope you guys love living here.. Though.. Yeah.. Never mind I'm not gonna say nothing😂
Hirondelle (not getting notifications) wrote: "Congratulations and all the best!"Thank you, dear Hirondelle! 🤗 The news came just in time to count my blessings on Thanksgiving. 💗

I don't know how folks are still alive, according to researcher Agatha Christie and the documentary Midsomer Murders, everyone murders everyone in the shires. 😂 Must be evolutionary resistance to poison that's passed down via DNA after centuries of pie-trading with the neighbours! 😂

I don't have children yet to fully qualify for Suburban Soccer-Momhood. 😂 I'll do my best to adapt, I've been warned there's a mother of all culture shocks awaiting me, as the US is so different to what I've known all my life.

The Cub (my fiancé) is American, so he'll be in his element. I'm the one who's going to be accidentally poisoning the neighbours, having to repeat myself to those not familiar with Hobbitish, ditching my extra Us and adopting "y'all," and somehow getting myself elected to some board o' something to pester everyone about the height of the grass on their lawn. 😂

Craig Vasiliev wrote: "This is good news! I am very happy for you both."Thank you, Craig! 🤗
I know from your wife that you come from a similar situation to mine (foreigner married to an American and living in the US), so if it's not too personal to share in public, can I ask you how did you end up there?
I have yet to re-start my permanent resident visa process next year. *giant groan* But this is progress!
Persephone's Pomegranate wrote: "Congrats!"Thank you, doll! 💗
If you want on my list, I'll make super special non-poisoned pies for you, I promise. 😂

You are very welcome.
No. Not personal at all. I'd be glad to share.
Well, I was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia. My mother is from there and my father is from Moscow. When I was six months old they moved us to America. Though we have many relatives that live here on American soil, growing up, I still visited Russia every summer vacation and for the holidays. As I still do now. So it felt like I grew up full time in mother Russia, while still feeling right at home with the American culture and way of life. My wife calls me a Chameleon. I guess that while growing up here but still keeping close to my family's way of life and culture, was not a difficult transition for me because this dual way of living is all that I've ever known.
Though this will be a new transition for you, you do have an excellent teacher and back up for your possible fumbles while learning your way, your American Fiance'. So my advice is to enjoy the ride and the new discoveries that await you.
