Julio The Fox Two valid reasons to learn Latin, Greg: For a key to the Romance languages, and mental self-discipline. The invalid reason is to show off, though I admire that trait. Once at UCLA I heard a visiting British historian drop "obiter dicta" into his talk and was mightily impressed.

Greg Watson Thank you for the feedback, Julio. I have to learn a lot more Latin before I’m ready to show off. This book is a good format for self-learners. He introduces a new word or concept each day and reinforces the previous day’s lessons. The author has a teach-by-translating approach. I’m making progress. My goal is to eventually attempt to read Augustine and Roman classics in Latin.

Julio The Fox Good luck, Greg. i own a Latin-English dictionary myself and often dip into it to understand literary quotations.
