1. On upāya-kauśalya: In addition to the discomfort on conceit that I felt from the Lotus Sutra, Williams explained how this doctrine was a slippery slope that led to the sanctioning of violence.
2. On pariṇāmanā: It's clever of Williams to use the Mādhyamika śūnyatā to argue for the palatability of the doctrine of transferring of merit in spite of the seemingly rigidity of the law of karma.
