TWO historical fiction books with unmarried ladies being held by a gentleman in private train cars during emotional breakdowns in one month?? I feel delightfully spoilt.

This far into a Matthews book the man should be a smitten kitten, but this one is still regularly rude and hostile and sharp and looks as though he wanted to 'seize her and shake her.' WHO enjoys this dynamic, cause to borrow some Selena Gomez lyrics, it ain't me!

Fine. Rescuing her fear-frozen self is acceptably gallant, but I refuse to swoon about the kiss (but it's still good, because it's Mimi Matthews and she literally cant write a bad one).

All right, reflexively breaking a dude's nose because he indirectly called Miss Flite a whore wins him some points.

Oh, so he admits that he's a street rat. Refreshing.

(Seriously how is she gonna redeem this one. can she even? I've never encountered a Mimi Matthews love interest I didn't like on sight)

What if we killed this smug-ass street rat. (Romance is off to a great start! /s)

I guess I'm starting this? Currently still very skeptical of the tone.
